John ArntonGroup Legal Manager
John Arnton joined Faroe in 2011 as Legal Manager.
He is a qualified solicitor and Notary Public, having read law at Dundee University, and also holds a postgraduate Diploma in Petroleum Law.
John worked in Scottish private practice before joining Total in 1985. Thereafter he worked in various legal roles for Occidental Petroleum and the Elf Group following the latter’s acquisition of Occidental’s UK assets in 1991.
John joined Faroe Petroleum from Dana Petroleum where he had been Group Legal Manager & Company Secretary since 2000.
Martin KavanaghGroup Commercial Manager
Martin has worked for over 20 years in commercial roles within the industry, working in upstream and downstream roles in both the UK and Norway.
He started his career with Mobil in Aberdeen, then moving in to the merged ExxonMobil. Martin started with Faroe in January 2015, joining after 10 years working for RWE.
The majority of his career has been spent working on operated assets where he has negotiated commercial agreements for over 10 field developments across the UK and Norway.
Julian RiddickCompany Secretary & Commercial Director
Julian Riddick is Company Secretary and Commercial Director, he joined Faroe Petroleum in 2002 prior to its admission to AIM.
He read geology at Leicester University and was an exploration geologist with Consolidated Goldfields in Australia. Prior to joining Faroe Petroleum he was with Dana Petroleum where he held various financial and corporate positions.
Bogi VangGroup Financial Controller
Bogi is Faroese and joined Faroe Petroleum in 2003 as Group Financial Controller.
He has a degree in Accountancy from the University of Aberdeen and is a qualified CA, having trained with Deloitte where his clients predominantly were in the oil and gas sector.
Bogi manages the Finance team in Aberdeen and Stavanger and his role primarily covers financial management and planning, commodity and FX hedging, financing, taxation and M&A support.
Ian WilsonUK Exploration Manager
Ian is a Geologist with over 25 years of industry experience gained in various parts of the world including UK, Ireland, Africa and the Far East.
Ian started his career with BP and has since worked at Enterprise Oil, Kerr McGee and Serica Energy.
He has a strong operational background, particularly in exploration and appraisal activities in the UKCS, and has more recently been involved in international new venture projects in Europe and Africa.
John WoodTechnical & Asset Manager UK
John joined Faroe Petroleum in December 2009 with responsibility for the company’s UK production and development assets.
In 1997 he graduated from Imperial College, London with an M.Sc in Petroleum Engineering. Upon graduation John worked with BG Group in the UK and Russia prior to joining Paladin Resources as a reservoir engineer in 2001. At Paladin he worked in the UK and Norway supporting the company’s business development, whilst engaging in the management of its operated and non-operated assets.
Prior to joining Faroe Petroleum, John spent four years as an independent consultant providing technical, operational and business development support to oil and gas companies, including Faroe Petroleum.
Bjørn BerntsenNorway Asset Manager
Bjørn is responsible for managing Faroe Petroleum's appraisal, development and production assets in Norway.
His work experience is within exploration, commercialization/early phase development, resource management and field development projects in Norway, Denmark and Yemen.
Bjørn graduated in 1991 from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology in Trondheim with an M.Sc in Petroleum Engineering. He then worked as a Petroleum Engineer for 11 years with chalk field developments in the North Sea for Amoco and Amerada Hess. The following six years he worked as a Reservoir Engineer for Endeavour and DNO International.
Before joining Faroe in February 2012, Bjørn worked for Det norske oljeselskap as the Asset Manager for Det norske's operated and non-operated licenses in the South Viking Graben area and as a Subsurface Manager in the Draupne Field Development Project from discovery to concept selection.
Marit BrattbakkGroup HSE Manager
Marit joined Faroe in 2013 as Group HSEQ Manager and is responsible for Faroe Petroleum Group’s HSEQ activities. She graduated in 1990 and since then worked as a manager and engineer; from 1998 as an HSEQ professional in the petroleum industry.
For five and a half years Marit was the senior HSE Adviser with Noreco ASA, prior to that she held various positions at the Norwegian Oil Directorate and with the Petroleum Safety Authorities (NPD/PSA). Marit has gained experience from a variety of HSE activities including Regulatory and standardisation work; management systems and emergency response establishment and assessment; risk management; major accident investigation; HSE support to exploration drilling as well as follow-up of Operators, Licensees, Duty Holder and Authorities.
Marit holds a Bachelor in Civil engineering and Cand.Mag degree in HSE Management which has been supplemented by additional studies in Management, Risk Management and Accident Investigation at Master level.
Chris CraftGroup Business Development Manager
Chris is responsible for managing business development for the group in Norway and the UK and has over twenty years upstream experience in Norway, the UK and the Netherlands.
He holds a BEng in Civil Engineering from Cardiff University and is also a chartered Mechanical Engineer.
He spent 15 years with Shell in a variety of roles, initially as a field engineer working on onshore gas fields in the Netherlands and offshore projects in Norway (Draugen and Ormen Lange); then moving on to the commercial management of Shell’s Atlantic margin exploration assets covering Ireland, Norway and UK and other business development activities particularly in Norwegian gas infrastructure. Before joining Faroe in January 2015, Chris worked for six years with Premier Oil, firstly as UK and Norway commercial manager and then as the Norway business unit manager which included management of both exploration and field development activities.
Tor Eirik MedbøenGroup Manager Economics and Planning
Tor Eirik holds an M.Sc in Economics and Business Administration (Siv. Øk and Cand. Oecon) from the Norwegian School of Economics and Business Administration (NHH) where he graduated in 2002.
Since 2003 Tor Eirik has worked in the oil industry and held positions in the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate and Paladin Resources prior to joining Faroe in 2006.
Andy RobertsGroup Exploration Manager
Andy is a Geophysicist with over 30 years of industry experience gained in areas of interpretation, operations and software development.
He has spent the last 19 years in Norway, initially with Enterprise as an interpreter in Exploration working on regional and block evaluations, as well as license round applications.
In addition to operated licenses and appraisal work, Andy had a number of secondments to both Statoil and Amoco. Since 2002 Andy worked for Paladin with geophysical responsibility for non-operated producing assets, gaining a lot of experience in 4D interpretation, as well as being responsible for the Paladin operated Blane Field.
Andy joined Faroe in February 2006 as the Exploration Manager for Faroe Petroleum Norge.
Stein Arild TonningGroup Drilling Manager
Stein has over 30 years experience in the oil & gas industry from work with Norwegian Drilling contractors, Operating companies and Offshore Authorities.
He has been involved in a variety of activities such as offshore drilling, project engineering & rig modifications, regulatory and standardisation work, management systems establishment and assessment, follow-up of Operators & Licensees and the North Sea Offshore Authorities drilling group.
He has a BSc in Mechanical & Petroleum Engineering and an Industrial Economy & Business Degree.
Stein joined the Company as Drilling Manager in March 2011.
Ida VelandCorporate Development Manager
Ida is responsible for protecting and optimising the group’s investment decisions across its existing and prospective new assets and activities. Working closely with the Asset Managers, the Group Business Development Manager and the Group Commercial Manager Ida is responsible for identifying key opportunities with potential for significant value creation within both existing and prospective new assets.
Ida has over 15 years upstream experience in Norway and holds a degree in Petroleum Engineering from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology. She spent four years with Statoil as a reservoir engineer and a further four years with Paladin Resources before joining Faroe in 2006 when the Group first moved to Norway.
